Working through walls
I think this will turn out to be the last chance Arnold had to reach through one wall to work on another -- the top of the triangular air-conditioning soffit leading to the den door.
None of this soffit, nor the one stretching over the door itself, was in the original plans. But when the AC guys told us the architect's duct plans simply wouldn't work, Ref and I put our heads together and this is how we solved the problem.
As mechanical solutions go, it lets us put great volumes of air into the den and bedroom, too.
I'm not crazy about the duct over the door -- Arnold took a long look at it today and said it reminded him of a birdhouse or doghouse -- but at least it ought to provide a good blast of air where it's needed in the vault of the dining room.
