House painters

One of the joys of living in the Historic District is stumbling across art-minded tourists and locals.

They set up shop on the sidewalk -- in this case, on Caroline Street; I came across them coming back from voting at Old City Hall -- and do their best to render the structures in front of them. Some are quite good.

Steve, our landlord, has a half-dozen watercolors of his house -- our rental -- the historic Kerr House. They're hanging in the laundry shed.

That may sound awful, but I think it's a spectacular way to share the art with nonchalance: Everyone who lives in the building gets a chance to see his own home through another set of loving eyes.
